What do you do at the Penlee Family Project?

“I volunteer at the Penlee Baby Haven. I try and greet all the mums and babies, as they arrive at different times. I make the tea and coffee and provide refills if required.”

What do you like about working for the Penlee Family Project?

“I love seeing all the activity that goes on in the group. How fast the babies grow, and seeing new mums gain confidence and make new friends.”

Can you say a little bit about your prior experience and qualifications?

“I’ve worked for all sorts of companies – the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Postie, school secretary, Tesco, and cafes. I’ve been a mum for 36 years and I’m now a Grandma 🥰 . Whilst I was a first time mum I was a childminder, and it was the busiest and most fulfilling job I’ve ever done. I also ran my own baby equipment hire business at this time. The last qualification I took was a school secretary related one.”

What do you like to do when not working at the Penlee Family Project?

“I love being with my family and doing activities like walking with my husband. I also enjoy sea swimming with all my Bluetit friends. I volunteer at the Hall for Cornwall and I love helping there, seeing people enjoying themselves. I also enjoy various exercise classes, badminton and generally keeping busy.”
